Introducing Sally August

Sally is based in her hometown of Gisborne and provides face-to-face support to museums across the North Island. She has been working in museums for more than 10 years. Recently she worked as Sector Training Co-ordinator for National Services Te Paerangi, at Whakatane District Museum and Gallery as a Co-ordinator Museum Services, and at Auckland War Memorial Museum as a Collections Technician.

Sally has a Post-graduate Diploma in Museum Studies from Massey University and a Visual Arts Degree in Photography from Manukau Institute of Technology. Sally is passionate about the arts and heritage sector and especially the preservation of taonga: their connections, stories and peoples who care for them.

In her time in the sector Sally has worked with many knowledgeable people and varied collections. These experiences have shown her what marvellous things can be achieved in partnership with communities. Sally looks forward to working with you at your place.
