Leave and other benefits for Te Papa staff 



  • 4 weeks holiday a year for all staff (since 1 July 2005)
  • A fifth week of holiday for staff with five or more years of continuous service
  • Long service leave of 10 days after each decade of continuous service
  • Sick leave of 9 days a year for permanent staff, and 5 days a year for casual staff after 6 months of continuous service
  • Care for dependants leave (in addition to sick leave) of 3 days per year for permanent staff, and 1.5 days for casuals
  • Parental leave benefits:  20 working days paid leave, or a childcare subsidy of $3,500 gross on return to work.  These benefits are available to permanent employees who qualify for and are taking parental leave under the Parental Leave and Employment Protection Act.
