  • We had a wonderful experience holding our wedding at Te Papa! From the booking process to the big day itself, we found the staff to be most helpful, knowledgeable, and accommodating. We initially booked Icon at Te Papa for our reception but after realizing that our wedding fell on the same day as the Homegrown concert, we decided to hold our ceremony there as well. Glenn Lust did a fantastic job coordinating the day. He found a stunning space for the cocktail hour while Icon was switched over from ceremony to reception area. Meanwhile we took our photos in the beautiful backdrop of Te Papa’s pond, which was nicely secluded from the concertgoers. The food was absolutely perfect! Every dish was cooked to perfection and our guests still talk about it! Glenn and his team executed our vision perfectly and we are thrilled to recommend Te Papa to anyone looking to hold their party in a stylish venue operated by highly skilled and talented people!

Health and safety 

Ensuring a safe workplace is important to us. You and your exhibitors must comply with the requirements of the Health & Safety in Employment Act 1992, including:
  • following the instructions of Te Papa staff
  • keeping fire exits clear
  • making sure all electrical gear is Portable Appliance Tested (PAT) and tagged
  • taping down all electrical cords

Smoking

Te Papa is a non-smoking venue inside and outside, including on balconies.

Evacuation

Our staff are trained in a wide range of emergency procedures and will manage any emergency situation.

Restricted items

Written approval is needed to bring in restricted items. Please talk to your functions coordinator if you wish to bring in:

  • potentially offensive material
  • weapons or other equipment that may cause harm
  • food and beverage (for sale or sample), including coffee machines
  • animals, including domestic pets
  • any large pieces of equipment over 2 x 2 metres and/or 30 kilograms

Prohibited items

Items prohibited for safety reasons include:

  • flammable liquids or accelerants (eg petrol, diesel, CNG, LPG)
  • items or equipment that produce flames or extreme heat (including candles and cooking appliances)
  • smoke machines
  • helium balloons.
