  • We had a wonderful experience holding our wedding at Te Papa! From the booking process to the big day itself, we found the staff to be most helpful, knowledgeable, and accommodating. We initially booked Icon at Te Papa for our reception but after realizing that our wedding fell on the same day as the Homegrown concert, we decided to hold our ceremony there as well. Glenn Lust did a fantastic job coordinating the day. He found a stunning space for the cocktail hour while Icon was switched over from ceremony to reception area. Meanwhile we took our photos in the beautiful backdrop of Te Papa’s pond, which was nicely secluded from the concertgoers. The food was absolutely perfect! Every dish was cooked to perfection and our guests still talk about it! Glenn and his team executed our vision perfectly and we are thrilled to recommend Te Papa to anyone looking to hold their party in a stylish venue operated by highly skilled and talented people!

Celebrate your school ball in style at our place, where your guests can enjoy hospitality in one of our contemporary spaces located on Wellington’s magnificent harbour. 

Our per person package has been designed to include everything you need to host a school ball, and our experienced coordinators are able to make recommendations for the special touches.

Venue hire booking conditions

  • Minimum of 150 people
  • Security staff required on the night at 1 security guard per 80 students. ($35.00 including GST per hour per guard, for a minimum of 3 hours per guard)
  • All inclusions are Te Papa Standard unless specified
  • Offer is valid for bookings held through to 31 December 2015
  • Package is only available for official school balls, and not available in conjunction with any other offer
  • Menu selection may be subject to change
  • Alcohol will not be sold to any students, even if they are over 18 years of age. Soft drink and other non-alcoholic beverages can be made available for sale by prior arrangement.
  • Any attendee, student or otherwise, will not be granted access to Te Papa if intoxicated.
  • If Any student is found to be or suspected of consuming alcohol on premise, the alcohol will be confiscated and the student in question will be escorted off the premise.
  • A minimum of 10 parents, guardians or teachers are required to be in attendance for the entire duration of the event. One parent, guardian or teacher will assume responsibility as a liaison with Te Papa.
  • Re-entry to the event will only be permitted for Parents, Guardians and Teachers.
