What is the Expert Knowledge Exchange?
The Expert Knowledge Exchange offers a museum, art gallery, iwi or other cultural organisation the opportunity to host an expert from another organisation. The exchange involves placements for intensive one-on-one advice or workshopping for the organisation and its staff.
The Expert Knowledge Exchange is a development of the Museum Internship Secondment Programme (MISP) trialled in 2009. The aim of the initiative is to enhance the knowledge and skill base of the host organisation rather than have the expert do all the work.
Who is eligible?
To be eligible to apply to the Expert Knowledge Exchange, you must meet these four criteria:
- Be a museum, art gallery or iwi organisation.
- Have clearly defined objectives which must be able to be met within a 1–5 day placement timeframe.
- Be able to provide evidence supporting your need for expert advice.
- Be able and prepared to assist with some of the expenses. This might include low cost or free accommodation, travel expenses or money towards the expert’s meals.
