Ko Hikurangi te maunga

Ko Ngāti Porou te iwi
Gavin is originally from Wainuiomata. He has lived in rural Halcombe, near Feilding, with his wife Denise (Ngāti Pikiahu, Ngāti Waewae) for over 30 years. Gavin has a Dip Tchg B.Ed from Massey University. He has worked in primary and secondary schools around the Manawatu, as well as teaching at tertiary level for several years.
Since joining National Services Te Paerangi in 2007, Gavin has worked extensively with iwi around New Zealand, presenting, negotiating, organising and facilitating workshops, and assisting in many projects. Gavin is pleased to be involved with iwi, learning the many different stories that link iwi through a network of whakapapa, mana, warfare, reconciliation, aroha and a common will to progress through collaboration and forging relationships.
Away from Te Papa, Gavin enjoys carving and working with clay, loves diving and has joined the Mara Kai movement, growing traditional Māori vegetables and setting up whanau gardens.
