Celebrate Sea Week with NatureSpace’s Family Day from 10am-3pm on Level 2 this Sunday 9 March at Te Papa.
Throughout the day, there will be an ocean of fun activities, games, stories, and even live sea creatures! The activities include making a kelp forest to swim through, fishing for a food chain, feeding a shark and an oceanic Wearable Arts parade.
Highlights include:
10:30am–11:15am: NatureSpace Supervisor Jennifer Todd and friends bring along live sea creatures to talk about.
11:30am–12 noon: Listen to some Māori sea legends with storyteller and writer Moira Wairama.
12 noon–1:30pm: Take part in some exciting games and activities, including Island Hopping and Jellyfish Dancing.
1:30pm–2pm: Wellington Councillor Ray Ahipene-Mercer talks about penguins and other marine life.
2pm–3pm: Make a paper bag octopus ($2 charge).
All events are free unless specified.
