Julia's on-the-road diary June 2009

Years ago, I had a favourite set of books called How Things Work. While others were reading Little House on the Prairie, I was discovering the inner workings of the washing machine. I never took one apart, but wanted to know how it and other machines worked.

Judith's on-the-road diary June 2009

Since February, I have visited museums on the West Coast, and in Otago and Southland. I’m more aware than ever that it is often in the smaller museums that our sense of local identity and history is being developed and nurtured. They tell us a great deal about ’our place’, and who and where we are.
