Curioseum overnight adventure details

At this action-packed overnighter, you get the chance to go behind the scenes in the museum and see some of the weird and unusual things in the Te Papa collections.

Then you can let your imagination run wild, and you can write stories, poems, anything you choose, starting from these objects (you get lots of help from great writing tutors and our educators).

This is exactly how the writers in the brand new book The Curioseum wrote their stories – they started from museum objects. You get to meet some of these famous New Zealand writers during the sleepover. Then you make your own book to take home.

The sleepover is for boys and girls.

The Curioseum book will be on sale from 7 March 2014.

This Overnight Adventure includes:

  • Guided back-of-house tour to Te Papa storerooms
  • A chance to explore the museum, and work with writers and educators to produce a take-home book
  • A night-time reading from The Curioseum, by some of New Zealand’s best-known writers who feature in the book
  • Snacks, evening meal and light breakfast
  • An exciting opportunity to spend the night in Te Papa!

What should I bring with me?

  • Summer weight sleeping bag or duvet and pillow
  • Appropriate sleepwear
  • Jacket
