Join us for a dynamic two-hour journey through the museum as we explore the foundational concepts of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how they shaped the creation of a new kind of museum experience.
Through interactive activities, students will engage with taonga and collection items across three floors, deepening their understanding of both Te Tiriti o Waitangi and The Treaty of Waitangi.
Beginning with the boulders on the museum forecourt, then Blood Earth Fire | Whāngai Whenua Ahi Kā, moving through Rongomaraeroa, and then to Te Tiriti o Waitangi: Ngā tohu kotahitanga | Signs of a Nation, students will encounter key sites and stories that bring these concepts to life in meaningful ways.
Along the way, they will develop an understanding of the significance of this agreement between Tangata Whenuaand Tangata Tiriti and explore how its ongoing commitments and lessons are reflected within society today.
This programme encourages students to reflect on their own relationship with Te Tiriti o Waitangi, considering its relevance now and into the future.
