Audience research: Pacific peoples and museums
In 2022 we commissioned Matada Research Group Ltd. for a body of research looking into how actual and potential Pacific audiences view museums. These are the findings of that research.
Pacific peoples’ worldviews are centred in this research by using Pacific research methodologies built on the values of relationality, respect, and reciprocity.
The findings are based on a survey and talanoa conducted with Pacific peoples from September to December 2022 across Aotearoa New Zealand.
Matada then worked collaboratively to analyse the data and created this report with Te Papa, to provide the entire museum sector with a report that can shape future relationships and engagements between Pacific peoples and museums.
Below you will find the findings of the 2022 research. This page will be updated as additional plans and resources are confirmed.
