Situated on Wellington’s waterfront, Te Papa boasts the city’s largest selection of venues, surrounded by award-winning exhibitions and taonga.

Our venues team, known as Tākina Events, manages 29 spaces across two iconic Wellington venues: Te Papa Tongarewa, New Zealand’s national museum, and the award-winning new Tākina Convention and Exhibition Centre. With 10,000 square metres of multi-purpose conference and exhibition space across two floors, Tākina blends flexibility and functionality with cutting-edge contemporary design and technology.

Our talented chefs create menus designed to showcase Aotearoa New Zealand, using the best locally sourced and produced products supplied by local and iwi-owned businesses. Any leftovers are donated to Kaibosh, a leading food rescue charity.

Te Papa is a bicultural institution that works in partnership with local iwi, drawing on traditions and values to foster a sense of place and heritage. Tikanga services are available to support your event.
