Tokotū | Rise Up

I roto i te pō, ka waiatahia mai te ao tūroa e ngā atua …

Mātakina te pūrākau mō Ranginui rāua ko Papatūānuku me te whānau atua. Ka tauwehe a Tāne i ōna mātua, ka puta marara atu ngā atua ki te whei ao ki te ao mārama – ā, he tini orooro ka tangihia. (36 meneti)

As the creator of these taonga I have enjoyed exploring what has become a reciprocal relationship with them as taonga tuku iho, as tūpuna, as atua. Through the intrinsic characteristics of the materials they are made from, through singing them into life with karakia, with chants, and with sound has imbued in them a mauri uniquely their own and separate to that which the pūkaretao activates.
