Find our two vibrant and cosy cafes nestled amongst Te Papa’s taonga.

Te Papa Cafe, Level 1

Our ground floor café is the perfect spot to pause and recharge during your museum adventures, offering a range of delicious options from breakfast to lunch, and fresh snacks. 

Whether you’re craving a morning coffee and a slice, or a midday meal fill you up, Te Papa Cafe has a range of delicious bites and drinks during your time at the museum. 

Tamariki can unleash their creativity with our fun colouring activities while enjoying tasty bites from the kids’ menu. 

Just outside, explore Bush City, Te Papa’s living, growing exhibition home to 1,400 native plants.

As you eat, admire prints of Aotearoa New Zealand’s iconic artworks available for purchase at Te Papa Store (link to new TPS webpage) also on the ground floor.

Espresso, Level 4

Set in the heart of the museum, Espresso is a relaxing spot to enjoy a light snack and small bites along with coffee, tea and chilled drinks.

Enjoy your coffee with a view – sit back and take in:

  • Signs of a Nation, a space dedicated to how Aotearoa New Zealand’s founding document, te Tiriti o Waitangi, has shaped relationships between the peoples of this nation.

  • Mana Whenua’s Teremoe waka, a war canoe used in the battles of the New Zealand Wars of the 1800s.

  • The Threshold Gallery in Toi Art, Te Papa’s art gallery featuring new, exciting commissions.
